The art and art history department believes that students learn both inside and outside the classroom and thus provides multiple student experiences that enhance the skills taught within the classroom and studio setting.

The 艺术与艺术史系 offers the 贝克·邓肯美术奖学金, awarded each year to incoming first-year students who intend to major in studio art. The department also offers two awards to recognize and honor the outstanding artistic achievements of exceptional senior art students.

The Frances K. Hendricks Fine Arts Award was established by the Spurs sorority to honor the late Frances Hendricks, a professor in the history department for more than 30 years and a Spurs sponsor. The award honors a graduating senior majoring in one of the fine arts who has made an outstanding contribution to the arts community at the University. It is presented each year to encourage students in the fine arts to become a vital force in the larger life of the campus.The award honors one student per year and consists of a plaque and $150.00. 提名程序如下:

Research
Exceptional students may write theses and independent studies directed by faculty members. Students may serve as research assistants to faculty members or undertake summer research supported by an Undergraduate Research in the Arts & 人文学科暑期研究奖学金.

Michael and nosami Neidorff艺术画廊
Students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of gallery management at the Michael and nosami Neidorff艺术画廊, housed on campus. The gallery puts on four exhibitions annually, including student-developed shows.
Internships
Local partnerships
Internships are offered in coordination with local institutions such as the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA), 麦克内艺术博物馆, and ArtPace, 以及各种各样的国家和国家文化机构, including museums, galleries, cultural centers, schools, and art agencies.

How to get started
